(ii) Naval and Army Commanders should be nominated now and instructed to prepare detailed landing plans. (iii) The shipping necessary for the expeditions should be earmarked now. (d) That the Joint Planning Sub-Committee should re-examine the question of capturing the Canary Islands, and should (i) Consider the forces required for the capture of the Islands, in view of the reported strength of the defences. (ii) Consider what defences were required to provide a reasonable degree of security for the Islands if used for a refuelling base and for occasional visits by squadrons of the Fleet.
