Gliders. Use by Germany. Note by Director of Military Intelligence

1 May 1940

The gliders could be landed in 15 to 20 yards without damaging the machines and could be "pancaked" in an even smaller space without injury to the crew. It is not considered that it would be possible to detect gliders, after they had been released from the towing aircraft, by acoustical means and there is considerable doubt as to whether electro-magnetic means would achieve success. It is however understood that the Air Ministry are at present carrying out tests to obtain further information on this point.
