Italy. Possible Military Courses Open To: Memorandum

France. 12. An attack on France, if carried out in collaboration with Germany, would contribute to a speedy Axis victory. The Italian people might be encouraged by the prospect of recovering Nice and Savoy. On the other hand, this would be a difficult and costly operation unless strongly supported by the Germans and the brunt of the War would fall on the weakest arm, i.e. the Army. A reverse might also bring the war into Italy which would result in Italy having to call upon German help. This would enable the latter to impose her terms.
