GERMANY'S OBJECT. 5. To occupy Holland with a view to:(i) Obtaining bases for intensive attack against the United Kingdom and its sea communications by sea and air. (ii) Seizing the economic resources of Holland. FACTORS. Dutch Strength and Dispositions. 6. Navy. The Dutch maintain no naval forces in Europe capable of offensive operations. A certain number of coast defence units are available for the local defence of ports. 7. Army. The Dutch Army consists of:(i) The Covering Troops, which include a number of battalions and military police units responsible for manning the frontier, the demolition belts and for watching parts of the coast.
