ANNEX II. EXTRACT FROM REPORT OF A TOUR TO ADEN BY THE HEAD OF THE MIDDLE EAST INTELLIGENCE CENTRE. SECURITY 26. The local representative of the Secret ORGANISATION Intelligence Service also carries out the duty of Security officer. While this may have sufficed in peace, the position is not satisfactory under war conditions. He is overworked and unable to devote adequate time and consideration to either role. I discussed the matter with the A.O.C., the S.I.S. representative and the Governor. It was agreed that the appointment of a qualified Defence Security officer is urgently necessary.
