3. "D" NOTICES MOVEMENTS OF CERTAIN ORES THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute* by the Secretary, covering :(i) A copy of a letter from Lord Portal of Hungerford to General Sir Hastings Ismay on the subject of issuing a "D" Notice relating to the import movements in this country of the essential raw materials concerning the atomic energy project. (ii) A draft "D" Notice to this effect prepared by the war Office. REAR ADMIRAL PARRY suggested that in forwarding a "D" Notice on this subject to the Press Committee, it would be of advantage to accompany it with a memorandum, emphasising the military nature of the request.
