said that his Department were interested in the matter and would like to have monitoring continue in the Midlle East. Provided the Americans supplied us with copies of their reports, however, his Department would be satisfied. BRIGADIER HIRSCH said that there might be a danger that the arrangements, whereby an American unit took over monitoring in the Middle East, might not be continued as a long-term commitment owing to the state of flux in the Intelligence Organisation in Washington. In discussion, certain amendments were suggested to the draft report.
