(c) Instructed the Secretary to circulate for their information, any Cabinet Office instructions on this matter. 2. DEFENCE NOTICES GROUP CAPTAIN PAYNTER referred to the pre-war system whereby the release of items of service interest was voluntarily controlled between the Service Departments and the Press by the issue of Defence notices ('D' notices) to the Press Committee. He said that the machinery of the Press Committee was now being reinstituted. It was for consideration whether a list of items to be put before it should be made, particularly with regard to atomic energy and biological warfare.
