2. THE CHAIRMAN, J.I.C., MIDDLE EAST THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a minute by the Secretary (J.I.C./1342/44, dated 6th October, 1944), covering a minute from the Chairman. Mr. C.E. Steel, who had been, until recently, attached to the staff of the Minister Resident in the Middle East and had been Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Middle East, had been transferred to Caserta. He was being replaced as Chairman of J.I.C., Middle East, by Mr. J.A. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton, who was at present in London had, therefore, been invited to meet the Sub-Committee.
