It would continue to perform the functions which it had hitherto performed as part of the Ministry of Economic Warfare and its relations with other Departments, in that capacity, would be unaffected by the change. As regards the relationship of Enemy Branch to the Sub-Committee, it was not proposed that any change should be made in the working of Enemy Branch representatives on the Joint Intelligence Staff. On the Sub-Committee itself it was understood that, in future, the representative of Enemy Branch would attend meetings only when matters of interest to the Branch were discussed and would only sign papers which were concerned with the attack on economic objectives or in which the economic interest was predominant.
