Department of the Ministry of Economic Warfare; and by M.I.10 of the War Office - again subject to no extra work being entailed (ii) Invited the Chairman to reply to Sir Hubert Young to the above effect. 3. ORGANISATIONS FOR THE COLLECTION AND COLLATION OF INTELLIGENCE. THE CHAIRMAN stated that as in accordance with the decision recorded in item 2 above, no extra work could be undertaken to provide the Intelligence required by the Relief Department of the Board of Trade, that Department might feel it necessary to set up an organisation of its own. This would be most undesirable and brought up the whole question of the overlapping of Intelligence organisations in various Ministries. The problem of the post-war organisation for the collection and collation of intelligence also arose. THE SUB-COMMITTEE:- (i) Decided to consider at their next meeting, on the 13th July, a proposal that a circular letter be addressed to all Ministries, which have their own intelligence organisations, asking for particulars regarding these organizations. (ii) Instructed the Secretary to draft a letter as at (i) above for consideration by the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee. 4. COLLECTION BY INTER-SERVICES TOPOGRAPHICAL DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION FOR FIRE DEFENCE OF CERTAIN EUROPEAN TOWNS. THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a minute by the Secretary, JIC/994/45, dated the 7th July, 1943, covering a letter from Brigadier Lee, D.C.C.A.O., to the Chairman. THE SUB-COMMITTEE:- Decided to refer the question raised in this letter to the Topographical Sub-Committee and to request that that Committee would draft a reply for submission to the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee.
