Minutes of the thirtieth Meeting of the sub-committee, held in the Secretary's Room, Great George Street, S.W.1. on Tuesday, 15th June, at 10.15 am

3. A CERTAIN OPERATION. THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute by the Secretary (JIC/788/43 dated 13th June, 1943). THE SUB-COMMITTEE:- Invited Brigadier Sir Stewart Menzies to discuss the problem involved with Lieut.-Colonel Sanderson of I.S.(0), and bring it again before the Sub- Committee if he considered this necessary. 4. THE STAFF REQUIREMENTS OF I.S.T.D. THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute by the Secretary (JIC/789/43 dated 13th June, 1943). THE CHAIRMAN said that one of the difficulties in finding adequate staff was the low rate of pay offered to civilians. THE DIRECTOR OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE said that the proposals which the Topographical Sub-Committee would place before the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee would include a full statement about the requirements of staff for I.S.T.D., and recommendations regarding pay could then be made. THE SUB-COMMITTEE:- Agreed to the proposals contained in the letter from the Director of Naval Intelligence, P.508 dated 13th June, 1943, recommending that Directors of Plans should be asked to meet the Topographical Sub- Committee to give certain decisions, and that then the Topographical Sub-Committee should submit to the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee their proposals regarding increases of staff.
