2. SCHOOL OF ORIENTAL AND AFRICAN STUDIES THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a minute by the Secretary (J.I.C./285/42), dated the 15th December, setting out the history of the dispute between the School of Oriental Studies, the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Works and Planning, regarding the accommodation for the School. In discussion it was pointed out that the interest of the Service Departments was to ensure that any decision reached in the dispute, would leave the School in a position in which they were capable of carrying out, without interruption or delay the important work they had undertaken on behalf of the Service Departments.
