2. CENTRALISATION OF PRESS READING. (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(42) 52nd Meeting, Item 2). THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute by the Secretary dated 16th October, 1943, which had been circulated to the members of the Sub-Committee personally, covering a Note of the points brought out in discussion at the previous meeting on the proposal that had been made to set up an organisation for centralising press reading in London. The following were the principal points made in discussion:(a) the principal organisations in this country engaged in press reading were the Political Warfare Executive, "Chatham House", the Ministry of Economic Warfare and the Service Departments.
