4. A CERTAIN OPERATION LEAKAGE OF INFORMATION. (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(42) 50th Meeting (0), Item 1). THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute by the Secretary (JIC/159/42) dated 22nd November, 1942, which had been circulated to the members of the Sub-Committee. In this Minute the Sub-Committee were reminded that at their (42) 50th Meeting, Item 1, they had (a) Instructed the Service members of the Inter-Services Security Board to consult with the Legal Advisers of their Ministries regarding the best means of attaining the object sought in a recommendation of the Board to the effect that instructions should be given that the Board should be consulted before any action leading to a Court Martial was initiated, in cases of leakage of information where a future operation appeared to be involved; (b) Recommended that when persons are convicted before Courts Martial of being concerned in a leakage of information regarding operations, the maximum publicity should be given to the conviction and sentences, after the danger to security of publicity ceased to exist.
