(b) recommended that facilities should not, for the time being, be withdrawn from the Japanese ConsulateGeneral at Rangoon until we have seen the Japanese reaction to the measures to be taken in India. B. THE SUB-COMMITTEE next considered the wider question of the desirability of closing Japanese consulates throughout the Empire. It was recognized that if this step were taken the Japanese would retaliate by closing all British consulates. It would be necessary to consult the Dominions and the United States Government.
