1940

1. THE GENERAL QUESTION OF THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMISSION INTO THE UNITED KINGDOM OF POTENTIAL RECRUITS FOR ALLIED AND FREE FRENCH FORCES. During discussion the following points arose (i) Arrangements made to facilitate the transference of volunteers from occupied countries or unoccupied France would be likely to prejudice arrangements for the escape of British prisoners. (ii) Unless volunteers were duly vouched for by a responsible authority prior to their entry into this country, it would be possible for the Germans to introduce agents in the guise of volunteers.
