A volume of meeting minutes of the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JIC). The JIC was formed of representatives from the intelligence services, the armed services, and the Foreign Office. Its purpose was to assess military, security, and foreign policy requirements and coordinate Britain’s intelligence organisations accordingly. The JIC members discussed a vast range of international and domestic issues in their meetings. In this file, subjects documented include preparations for a German invasion; the security of communications; the security of British ports; the likelihood of war in the Pacific; the United Kingdom's relations with the United States of America; cooperation and the sharing of intelligence between the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and the Office of Strategic Services (OSS); censorship; different forms of intelligence gathering; prisoners of war; enemy aliens in Britain; consular intelligence sources in East Asia; and British domestic security.
