3 AIR ATTACK ON INDUSTRY. I.—DEGREE OF INDUSTRIALISATION IN BELLIGERENT COUNTRIES. Spain. 1. Spanish economy is, broadly speaking, that of an agricultural and mining country, dependent on exports of the products of these activities for imported manufactured goods. 2. Spanish industry is chiefly concerned with the production of minerals, fruit, cereals, cattle and other agricultural produce, exports of these commodities normally accounting for about 85 per cent. of the country's total exports. Spain, nevertheless, possesses a considerable number of small scale workshops and factories, including those producing sugar, cement, pottery, electricity, gas, motor cars, machinery, stationery, chemicals, matches, textiles, &c., as well as aircraft and armament factories and shipbuilding yards.
