(1) Air Warfare in Spain - General Discussion

1 Jun 1937

A volume of meeting minutes and reports from the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JIC). The JIC was formed of representatives from the intelligence services, the armed services, and the Foreign Office. Its purpose was to assess military, security, and foreign policy requirements and coordinate Britain’s intelligence organisations accordingly. The JIC members discussed a vast range of international and domestic issues in their meetings. This file documents the formation of a sub-committee to examine air warfare in the Spanish Civil War and includes a series of reports on the effects of aerial attacks and bombing raids on ground troops, shipping, urban areas, and fuel oil storage depots, as well as observations on various methods of anti-aircraft defence.
