Responsibility of Coast Defence Intelligence. Note by the Secretary

RESPONSIBILITY FOR COAST DEFENCE INTELLIGENCE. Note by Deputy Director of Military Intelligence. At present the collation and distribution of information on coast defences is carried out by both the Admiralty and the War Office. Responsibility for coast defence as between the Army and the Navy varies in foreign countries, the principal countries in which the Navy is responsible being France, Germany and the U.S.S.R. Under present arrangements information is received on some countries through the Naval Attache, on others through the Military Attache, and on others, again, from Missions and other sources.
