1 Jun 1938

ANNEX. 0160/2133 (M.I.2). The War Office, Whitehall, S.W.1. 26th July, 1939. Dear Barnard, In my capacity as prospective Head of the Middle East Intelligence Centre, I have received a letter from Cornwall Jones drawing my attention D.C.O.S. conclusion on Paper No. D.C.O.S. 124 and Paper No. J.P. 125. This dealt with a point arising out of the recent Anglo-French conversations in Jerusalem. 2. This leads me to raise the question of the part the Centre is to play in the routine exchange of information with the French local authorities in North and East Africa and the Levant.
