Anglo-Turkish Staff Conversations. Note by the Secretary

1 Jun 1938

Kirik Kale represents the main armaments manufacturing centre of Turkey and here are situated over a large plain a number of factories for the production of a number of war supplies. The factories I found to be modernly equipped and well spaced over the plain. The General stated that the General staff had drawn up a plan for the defence of the place from air attack and that the plan would be put into operation as soon as an emergency existed. The factories we visited were as follows:1. Factory for the making of rifle parts.
