Reconstitution of the Sub-Committee. Report

1 Jun 1938

These officers are members of the intelligence branches of their respective departments and have the special function of representing their Directors of Intelligence at the meetings of the Situation Report Centre and of assisting the Directors at any meeting which they attend in person. 4. The experience gained in the working of the Situation Report Centre has clearly demonstrated the value of close co-operation between the Foreign Office and the Intelligence staffs of the Service Departments, but the Situation Report Centre deals only with the collation of information for daily and weekly situation reports and is not so constituted as to be able to prepare the broader appreciations which are required by the Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Planning Sub-Committee.
