Intelligence picture for the area as a whole to be presented to all Departments, so that the information each obtains from its own sources can be seen in its proper perspective. (e) For each Department to attempt to do this separately leads to unnecessary duplication and waste of man power, which occurs in any case under the present system. For instance, the Middle East Intelligence Section at the War Office receives no less than 26 Intelligence Diaries and Summaries monthly from Egypt, the Arab countries and Iran, in addition to a very large number of other reports.
