Spain: Intelligence Regarding Air Warfare. Report No. 3. Air Attack on Ships. Note by Deputy Director of Military Intelligence, War Office

1 Jun 1937

Para. 40. This statement is surely a little unfair. The DEUTSCHLAND was not in action and was caught quite unprepared. Such circumstances would not be likely to be found in war. Para. 56. last sentence but one. "the MADDA was steaming slowly and her manoeuvres further decreased her speed and rendered her more likely to be hit by low bombing". This is not very convincing. The BRITISH CORPORAL stopped and yet was not hit. It was more likely a matter of luck. Para. 69. Doubtless very true. Do they mind it more or less than a gun fire hit? Appendix L.
