The shipping required is estimated to be:20,000 men at 3 tons per man = 10 ships of approx. 6,000 tons. 2,000 animals at 5 tons per animal = 3 ships of approx. 6,000 tons. 500-600 vehicles at approx. 75 per ship = 7 ships of approx. 6,000 tons. 20 Conclusion. On this basis 20 ships of approximately 6,000 gross tons (total 120,000 tons gross) capable of individual speed of 14 knots would be required for a force of one division.
