Visits and/or Attachments of Japanese Officers to Units of the Three Services. Note by the Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, Admiralty

1 Jun 1936

29 ENCLOSURE 2. Intelligence Division, Naval Staff, Admiralty, S.W.1. 13th May, 1936. N.I.D.0364/36. Dear Captain Fujita, I desire to refer to the question of visits to H.M. Dockyards, Ships and Naval Establishments by Japanese Naval Officers in London and by our Naval Attaché and his Assistant in Tokyo. In order to reach an entirely satisfactory basis which will enable your work in London and that of our two Officers in Tokyo to proceed to our mutual advantage, it is proposed, in future, that visits which involve examination of ships and technical matters should, as occurs in Japan, be carried out only by the Naval Attaché himself or his senior accredited Assistant.
