Subjects covered in the file include the provision of money to bribe Spanish boat owners and naval personnel to ensure the evacuation of Spanish boats of all kinds in the event of a German invasion of Spain, funds for the start-up of a weekly newspaper sponsored by the anti-war Traditionalist Party, plans to subvert the Franco regime and recruit Moroccan support in the event of German invasion, German plans to arm the Moroccans, German attempts to pressure Spain into joining the war and British efforts to counter these, and the machinations of pro-war members of Franco's government.
