A file of reports on Special Operations Executive (SOE) operations in various theatres up to 1945 written by the Minister of Economic Warfare, Lord Selborne, and related correspondence. Subjects covered in Lord Selborne's reports include SOE operations in Africa, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Corsica, Yugoslavia, Italy, Norway, Denmark, West Africa, and Madagascar, including narrative accounts of the inspiration and recruitment of anti-Nazi resistance movements, operations to counter German propaganda in Yugoslavia, the diversion of large numbers of Italian and German troops through widespread sabotage of ships and trains in Italy, and attacks on heavy water plants in Norway. Also included in the file is correspondence on the release of the reports, mainly concerning objections to the circulation of certain material relating to British interest in atomic weapons development during the war, deception operations, and the use of diplomatic couriers for smuggling weapons and equipment.
