Special Operations Executive (SOE): Greek operations

A file of correspondence concerning the progress and funding of Special Operation Executive (SOE) operations in Greece and rest of the Balkans from 1942 to 1944. Subjects covered in the file include the escape of members of the Greek government from Greece; British intelligence policy on which armed groups in Greece to collaborate with; the successes of Greek guerrilla warfare in tying down German troops and disrupting supplies to North Africa; the creation of a contingency reserve of sovereigns in Greece; clarification of the overlapping responsibilities of SOE in the Balkans and the Commander-in-Chief, Middle East; the administration and source of funding for guerrillas in Greece, Yugoslavia and Albania supplied through SOE; and rewards to be given to Greeks who had assisted the SOE during the war.
