Special Operations Executive (SOE): Review of Activities

A file of reports reviewing the activities of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during the Second World War. The reports are generated by a number of organisations, including one from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) on SOE contributions to Operation Overlord, and are accompanied by a directive to the SOE executive giving guidelines for the running of operations. Among the topics discussed in the reports are the organisation of resistance movements in occupied Europe; communication with resistance movements; sabotage operations, including the destruction of bridges and locomotives; partisan and guerrilla warfare; the organisation of aerial supply drops; infiltration of enemy territory; the search for missing SOE personnel; relations with the governments-in-exile; and a description of the type and quantity of air-dropped supplies distributed in the course of wartime SOE operations.
