A file of correspondence, meeting minutes and memoranda relating to a report by Sir Norman Brook into the state of the secret intelligence and security services. Topics of discussion in this file include the organisation for the report, including its scope and the choice of Brook to compile it; minutes of a meeting with the Prime Minister, Clement Attlee, at which the report was discussed, with particular emphasis on ministerial responsibility for the intelligence services; discussion of the reports and its recommendations, including criticisms such as the increase in administration necessitated by following those recommendations; and discussion of the adoption of several recommendations from the reports, such as the construction of interception stations for radio communications, and the research and development of new equipment for this purpose.
