EIPS/553 BRITISH MISSION TO INVESTIGATE JAPANESE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH An informal meeting was held at 24, Rutland Gate, on February 5, 1947, with Sir Edward Appleton, F.R.S. in the chair. Others present were:Dr. Spencer (D.I.S.R.) Dr. Paris (Ministry of Supply) Mr. Ford (Foreign Office) Miss Williamson (Foreign Office) The purpose of the meeting was to discuss an invitation from the Americans to nominate British Scientists to participate in an Anglo-American Mission to enquire into Japanese research in pure and applied science.
