-23. RUSSIAN ACTIVITIES IN THE U.K. There are in all some 250 Soviet officials resident in this country. Of these, 126 are members of the Embassy staff, 23 belonging to the Office of the Military Attaché and 16 to the Office of the Naval Attaché. A further 94 are members of the Trade Delegation and, in addition, there are 22 directors of Russian trading firms closely allied to the Trade Delegation. There are 5 Soviet citizens working for the Tass News Agency. The Soviet Trade Delegation acts as a purchasing commission and is concerned with both general trade and war-like materials.
