COPY From:C.-in-C. Middle East To:Cabinet Offices X.COS.A. 113CCL. 19th September, 1946. From Commanders in Chief for Chiefs of Staff. 1. In accordance with Cabinet Offices signal No. 2890 of 20th August, 1946 following are our proposals. 2. We agree that Political Intelligence Centre M.E. should cease as an Army administered War Establishment and that the Staff should be held separately on the establishments of the three services and B.M.E.O., as soon as new proposals can be implemented. 3. Main requirements are in our opinion as follows:(a) As the only political collating organisation available P.I.C.M.E.'s task entails continuous research, collation and careful co-ordination utilising considerable volume of war material.
