Parker had been warned even more insistently about bandits between Warsaw and Brest Litovsk, although his Russian friends told him, with a smile, that dressed as he was in British uniform he would be well treated by the bandits, whereas Russians were being constantly shot. In point of fact, he did not come across any bandits, although at one stage of the journey he joined a large Russian military convoy which may have provided some protection. At Brest Litovsk Parker was met by his Russian secretary and chauffeur and given a fairly easy passage through the Customs.
