Intelligence of German Strategy in the Spring 1940

22 Jul 1946

FOREIGN OFFICE, S.W.1, 30th August, 1946. Colonel Thomson has come across a document of 137 pages of typescript in the course of his researches in Germany, which purports to be a German translation of a memorandum (with annexes) dated the 26th January, 1940 by a Franco-British Military Study Committee on possible German moves in the Spring of 1940. The document may be a fake planted on the Germans by some agent, but if it is genuine, it would be interesting to find out whether the leakage occurred from a French or British source.
