Survey of Intelligence on Atomic Energy

22 Jul 1946

Zlatitsa The village of Zlatitsa is on the Sofia-Karlovo Railway some 70 km. East of Sofia. It lies like Buhovo on the edge of the paleozoic sandstones, and close to the Westerly outcrop of the Stara granite. No description of the geology of the district is available and nothing more is known about it than that it is an old mining area, and that the Germans took some interest in it during the war. It' may be surmised that uranium occurrences there are similar to, though smaller in extent than, the Buhovo occurrence.
