UNITED KINGDOM REPRESENTATIVE TO EIRE, 50, Upper Mount Street, DUBLIN. 22nd July, 1946. My dear Mansergh, Doctor Richard Hayes, Director of the National Library of Ireland has asked me if it would be possible to obtain for the Library a set of maps of Eire prepared by the German High Command which, you will remember, were discovered in Brussels. Two sets of these maps and their relevant notes were sent by M.I.5. to the Department of Defence here. This request, however, is a cultural one. Hayes would not place these maps on exhibition, nor would he make any announcement about their acquisition, but he reels that they would form an interesting addition to his permanent records relating to the country.
