Exchange of Intelligence with the Americans

22 Jul 1946

[J.I.C.(W) 412] This document is not to be revealed now, or at any time, to foreign authorities. SUBJECT: Exchange of J.I.C. Appreciations I had a discussion on 30th July with Captain Abbott, U.S.N.R., U.S. Naval member of the U.S. Joint Intelligence Staff, with a view to finding out whether or not we could expect to receive U.S. J.I.C. papers and their comments on London J.I.C. appreciations passed to them. He informed me that he realised that we would like such comments but the whole question of passing information to other countries is still under consideration; things were now moving very fast and clear-cut instructions on what could, and could not, be handed over were expected shortly.
