Exchange of Intelligence with the Americans

22 Jul 1946

COPY MINISTRY OF FUEL AND POWER Situation in South Persia After consideration, we have no objection to J.I.C. Paper No. (46) 55 (0) (Final) of 7th June being sent to Washington and passed to the American authorities. When doing so, however, I Suggest that you should make the following comments:(a) Reference 2(a), the figure for Abadan production is likely to rise above the quoted figure of 17,500,000 tons per annum. (b) Attention should be drawn to the fact that American outlets (Socony-Vacuum, Standard of New Jersey, Stanvac, etc.) are at present being supplied with large quantities of oil from Abadan.
