Economic Intelligence in the Post Hostilities Period

17 Jul 1944

If this is under S.H.A.E.F.'s directive, S.H.A.E.F. will have to provide the necessary intelligence staff, either in G-2 or in G-5 Even if it is not in the S.H.A.E.F. directive, it will be an obligation of the Control Commission which will presumably begin to function in areas so soon as they are occupied, except in so far as its functions are being temporarily discharged by S.H.A.E.F. 4. Thus this intelligence function, whether it belongs in the first instance to S.H.A.E.F. or to the Control Commission ought to begin so soon as areas are occupied.
