This range can be doubled if they are provided, as they can be, with deck tanks. The "D" Class Fairmiles have a cruising speed of 22 knots and a maximum speed of 27, and the same range as the "B" Class Fairmiles without deck tanks. India has requested that "D" Class Fairmiles should be made available. A telegram has just been sent by the Admiralty informing India that no "D" Class Fairmiles can be made available.
