MOST SECRET S.6/M. The War Office, Whitehall, S.W.1. Dear King-Salter, Transport of 107 German P/W from USA to UK by Queen Mary for onward Repatriation via Sweden to Germany We feel that you should be made aware of a situation which has arisen over the repatriation of P/W from USA via "monster" liners. 2. The prisoners mentioned form part of a larger body of 800 German P/W for whom arrangements have been made for repatriation from the UK vie Gothenburg. 3. ISSB was informed by Q (Movements), War Office on 25th September that, to enable the 107 P/W to arrive in the UK in time to form part of the total contingent, it was apparently necessary for them to travel by the Queen Mary a decision which had presumably been agreed by the Combined Repatriation Committee in London.
