No authority was responsible for informing COSSAC of the enemy reactions to Operation STARKEY, and so far as I am aware no request from COSSAC asking for such an appreciation was made to the J.I.C. in accordance with sub-para 4 of paragraph 2 of J.I.C. (43) 217 as amended under your JIC/1369/43. 2. It occurs to me that, rather than depend on requests from COSSAC for appreciations of this nature, it would be helpful for the C.I.C.
