1. Release of Information on the U.K. Atomic Energy Programme; 2. Publication in the "Daily Telegraph" of an Article on the Central Ammunition Depot at Corsham; 3. Instructions for the Use of the Terms "Guard", "U.K. Eyes Only" and "Discreet" on Documents

1 Jul 1953

GUARD SECRET information contained in the book had been approved in detail by the Ministry of Supply de-classification experts and by the local security officers concerned. He agreed nevertheless that some amendments could be made with advantage. He reminded the Committee that the Ministry of Supply would shortly cease to control the U.K. Atomic Energy project, and the book before them was therefore in a sense an account of the Ministry of Supply's stewardship. It was somewhat bulky because it covered a long period, but future reports which would no doubt be issued by the new Corporation might well be smaller.
