1. Future of the British Intelligence Organisation, Germany

1 Jul 1953

SECRET contract was frustrated through B.I.O. (G) being disbanded before three years had expired. The Treasury were not prepared to give such an undertaking. They were, however, prepared to offer three-year contracts for a substantial proportion of the total number, provided the J.I.C. felt that there was a reasonable chance that the organisation would be in being for at least that period, and provided that the money to pay for the future B.I.O. (G) would be likely to be forthcoming. Apart from the above, he had no comments on the draft proposals.
