SECRET 2. WARNING OF ATTACK (Previous reference: J.I.C.(53)65th Meeting, Minute 4 dated 25th June, 1953). THE COMMITTEE considered a revised draft of their report⊖ on Warning of Attack. AIR COMMODORE BRAITHWAITE, speaking for the Directors of Plans, suggested that it was not quite clear from the report whether the period of warning to be expected was literally anything between 0 and 30 days, or whether the tendency was towards 30 days rather than towards 0. He suggested also that the paper might stress the importance, assuming we did get a period of warning, of taking promptly as many precautions as were politically possible.
