If that were so, it was a different problem which would entail the application of security procedures to the organisation of the Museum. COLONEL GRANT said that it was undoubtedly true that there were large numbers of classified documents of historical interest which would remain classified indefinitely because of their connection with vital aspects of modern warfare. After further discussion it was agreed that the following views of the Committee should be submitted to General Brownjohn:(a) It seemed likely that the needs of the Imperial War Museum could best be met by collaboration with the Historical Sections of the Ministries concerned, and the Cabinet Offices, with a view to establishing a methodical system for the selection, declassification and subsequent release to the Museum of classified documents of interest to it.
